The ocean is one of natures greatest gifts to us! Family fun; swimming, bathing, paddle boarding, surfing and chilling on an inflatable are all activities which bring us incredible joy!
BUT.. there are dangers that every beach goer must be aware of and this is definitely one of them. Rip currents are a natural formation in the water and understanding them can be the difference between safe swimming and being pulled out beyond your comfort. If you are caught in a rip current, do not try to swim against it; you will exhaust yourself and this could put you in great danger. Swim to the side, into the waves or float on your back with one arm raised (not waving!), to signal that you are in need of help. The rip current will naturally carry you around in a curve and out of the current.
Enjoy beaches safely.
